01 Ride up to the obstacle with your back
foot on the tail and your front foot on the nose of your board. Approach
the obstacle at about a 90-degree angle.
|
 |

02 As you make contact with the curb, lighten
the weight off your back foot (but keep it on the board) and shift the
majority or your weight to the nose of your board.
|
 |

03 As you do this twist your back foot (rotating
your board slightly) in the direction of the slide to lock your board
into the curb at 90-degrees. This may take practice but once you have
mastered the technique you’ll be able to perform a smooth slide.
All of your wheels should be off the ground at this point.

04 The sliding part if tricky to master as
there are so many factors involved, such as how waxed the obstacle is
the speed you are travelling and the angle you hit the obstacle. In your
slide the more weight on your toe edge, the faster you’ll go (with
more chance of the board shooting out) and the more weight on the heel
edge, the slower (with more chance of stopping abruptly). So be aware
it takes time to get the balance right.

 |

05 As you start to slow down (or even stop
in the early stages) begin to turn your back foot the rest of the way toward
the direction you are sliding. As you are turning also transfer your weight
off the curb and onto your board evenly. |
 |

06 You should aim to ride out of
this trick fakie as it’s difficult
getting back to normal position
on a low obstacle.
