FRONTSIDE 5-0 GRIND.
BACK TO TIPS MENU

01 If you're comfortable with ollieing into manuals it will help with this trick. Roll up to the obstacle as you would a FS 5050 - slightly off parallel with your front foot behind the truck bolts and back foot on the tail. Start slow to get used to it.

02 Crouch down low for this. You need to make sure your back truck gets on the obstacle - the back truck is the last part of your board to leave the ground when ollieing. Having your front foot further back before popping your ollie will help with height.

03 Pop it up high. Anticipate the grind of the obstacle - more than likely it will be slower than moving on your wheels. As you pop, turn your body frontslide (away from the object) slighty to allow you to land on the obstacle and not go over it.

04 Land in the grind with just your back truck. The way to do this is to pull both legs up for the ollie and as you get over your abstacle press your back foot down. In the early stages your tail might drag, but as you get more comfortable you can treat it more like a manual with just your back truck on the obstacle.

05 The grind will probably be lowing you down, so be prepared. The more you lean back the faster you will fo - with the possibility of the board shooting out in front of you. Leaning forward will give you a slower grind - with the risk of your front truck dropping you into a 5050, or the whole grind stopping dead. Work out what is best for that particular obstacle.

06 Getting out of the 5-0 is a bit tricky. If you can ride off of the end of the obstacle (as above) it's easier. You just need to put some weight over the front truck so that all 4 wheels hit the ground at the same time. If there is no end to the obstacle, try to turn your body fronside (away from the obstacle) and the board will follow. Remember to allow some weight over your front truck to level the board out as you come out of the grind.
