FRONTSIDE 180 OLLIE.
BACK TO TIPS MENU

01 You'll need to be comfortable with your ollie, moving or not, before you try this. Have your back foot closer to the heel edge of your board. As you crouch for the ollie, twist your upper body the opposite way to the way you'll be turning in your 180 - as if to coil up to give you more power to get the board the full 180 degrees around.

02 As you begin the ollie motion, unwind your upper body and start to turn the way you'll be turning in your 180. Use your arms to help you get the rotation.

03 As you bring your front foot up in the same way you do an ollie, your body should be already rotating and be in the early stages of turning 180. Your upper body should be facing forward, not sidewards like a normal ollie.

04 This is the part of the move which happens in a split second - the part where you're in the air facing forward, mid 180. In your early 180s, you may land in this position, which is a good start, but it just means you'll have to put a little more power in the turn at the start.

05 As you come toward landing your 180, if you feel your wheels are about to hit the floor prematurely, press more weight down on your usual front foot (now your back foot) to hit the floor with your back wheels first the pivot the rest of the way around on your back wheels. If you feel like your getting the whole way around, congratulations - and prepare to land.

06 Landing a 180 is tricky because your basically riding the opposite way to normal - AKA switch stance. Try and keep your body over the board at this point as you don't want to lean back and slip backwards. Again, aim to have your feet over the truckbolts as you land for stability. Keep practicing this and to gain confidence landing and riding away switch, which will help with tricks in the future.
