BACKSIDE KICKFLIP.
BACK TO TIPS MENU

01 This is a kickflip and backside 180 at the same time. You need to be comfortable with both of these tricks to get the best from backside kick-flips start with your front foot in the kickflip position, but the back foot in the backside 180 position. (more over to the edge of your tail).

02 Using the same method as a backside 180, coil your upper body the opposite way to the way you'll be tucking in your backside kickflip as you crouch.

03 As you begin to pop your ollie, uncoil you upper body and begin the 180 so as your tail hits down your body is round to the point where your back is facing slightly forwards.

04 As your kickflip leaves the ground you should aim to be about 90 degrees around. This will take practice, but a good way to learn
it is to think of it as a powerful
fling round. Kick off with your
front foot as normal and let the
180 do the rest.

05 If your normal kickflips are strong, you should automatically start catching the board under your feet. It's the getting round 180 that
is the difficult part. You have to fully commit and really turn your back into it. Try not to be tempted to look over your shoulder as this will hinder your turn.

06 Again the difficult part of landing backside flips is the getting round the full 180. at first you will be landing 90 and further. From this position you can pivot on your front (now the back) wheels to go the rest of the way around. This won't work when covering heights or distances with backside flips, so aim to really push them round at the start. When landing, aim for the bolts with this trick as these are the prominent deck snappers is landed incorrectly.
